PARKSHOWEXPO to Debut in 2017, Reinventing the Business of Canadian Fashion
Calgary to host first of its kind fashion tradeshow with the industry’s top talent and biggest brands.
On April 4, 2016 the founders of PARKSHOWEXPO (PSE) held a media launch at The Nash restaurant, announcing the debut of one of the most signi cant bi-annual fashion events in Western Canada.
From Feb 27 – March 1, 2017 Calgary will host PARKSHOWEXPO, the inaugural Canadian fashion tradeshow and showcase for buyers, retailers, designers, brands and consumers. This event will bring together the nation’s fashion industry under one roof for an inclusive business-to-business fashion exchange, in a unique and high-end setting.
More than 350 fashion brands and distributors will showcase an elevated selection of Autumn/ Winter 2017 men’s and women’s outerwear, attire and accessories to 2500+ industry professionals. All sizes of business are welcome from boutiques, to large-scale retailers, and distributors to preview collections from well-known established labels; and discover new and exciting Canadian brands.
Arts, culinary and educational programming will complement the tradeshow. National and international attendees will experience a refreshing dialogue on Canadian fashion and a glimpse into the culture of Calgary, beyond the oil tycoon and cowboy hat.
“There are no current opportunities within Canada where all the members of the fashion industry can come together, and much less for the consumer or international retailers & distributors to access Canadian brands,” says Megan Szanik, co-founder and CEO of PSE. “PARKSHOWEXPO is flipping the traditional model on its head and putting Calgary on the map as a metropolitan hub where fashion is thriving as real business. We’re gathering all members in one place so we can inspire, connect and educate our colleagues on the changing fashion business. We believe that in this economy, it’s not only smart, it’s essential for Canadian retailers to keep dollars close to home and to showcase and encourage the export of sought after fashion that is designed and made in Canada.”
Beyond granting retailers and buyers special access to top national brands and designers, the affair will feature unique programming including PARKFORUM; a retailer and brand focused series of educational seminars lead by Canada’s most successful fashion leaders and business people speaking on the future of consumers, manufacturing and commerce.
Apart from industry events, the public will be invited to explore style-focused installments, including PARKSHOP – the world’s biggest Canadian brand pop-up shop, and PARKSHOW CULINARY – showcasing the City’s top culinary offerings and art installations. The grand nale will be the 2017 PARKSHOW; one of Western Canada’s established evenings of runway and imaginative art exhibitions featuring cutting edge Canadian designers and brands.
“In my 25 years experience of traveling the world of fashion trade shows, I feel it’s time for Canadian designers to be seen,” explains Everton McDougall, an established Sales Agent & Distributor for Press Play Not Pause LTD.
“PARKSHOWEXPO will attract people to Calgary to experience Canadian fashion in a whole new way. Prior to the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver, Canada was always considered an after-thought. Today, the world knows us for Olympic gold medals, Justin Bieber and Drake, and some extremely successful fashion brands like Herschel, Mackage, & Canada Goose, but now it’s time to show everyone what else we can do by giving them access to all of our talented designers and our culture.”
